I’m Dallana Camargo, a photographer based in Houston, Texas. My path into photography was shaped by a simple yet profound inspiration—my grandfather, who was always behind the camera. Growing up, I admired photographs he captures of sunsets, sunrises, family gatherings, and the everyday beauty of life in Colombia. Though my time was limited with him, photography became my way of connecting with him , preserving a piece of his legacy and creativity. It’s a gift he left  me behind.

For me, photography is about discovering the extraordinary in the everyday. I’d describe my style as cinematic and dreamlike, blending elements of urban exploration, surrealism, and bold lighting. My work falls into what I call "moody conceptual photography" or "atmospheric visual storytelling," where every image holds an emotion or narrative—whether it’s wonder, nostalgia, or something more elusive. While I often focus on the beauty of life’s fleeting moments, I also capture quinceañera portraits, engagement photos, headshots, and event photography. I believe in using my photography to engage with and build communities, telling stories through images that connect people and moments.

What drives my creative process is the feeling of the moment. It’s not something I plan—it’s more about seeing something that resonates with me, often when I least expect it. Whether I’m driving through the city or simply walking down the street, I’m always looking for those fleeting moments that catch my eye. Music plays a huge role in my work—it’s not just a background sound, but an integral part of the process. From the moment I pick up my camera to the moment I share the image, music shapes the vibe and mood of the photograph. It’s how I breathe life into the work, much like a song that elevates the emotions of a moment.

When I create, I want my work to do more than just show what’s in front of me. I want it to evoke emotion—whether it’s happiness, sadness, or anything in between. Each photograph is meant to transport the viewer, to make them pause and feel something deep. I want people to connect with the world around them, to appreciate the beauty in the smallest of details—the things we often overlook in our busy, noisy world. Whether it’s capturing a special life event or a quiet moment of everyday life, I aim to preserve memories that hold meaning.

I’m drawn to moments that make me stop and think, "Wow, that’s something special." It could be the way light hits a building, the expression on someone’s face, or a simple yet stunning detail. In this fast-paced world, we miss so many of these moments, and photography allows me to slow down and capture what others might pass by. My goal is to show people the beauty that’s always there, waiting to be noticed.

Photography hasn’t always been easy for me. I’ve faced challenges in pushing myself to share my work, to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the vulnerability of creating something personal. But I’ve learned that perfection is a myth, and growth comes with each picture I take. The more I shoot, the more I evolve, and the more I embrace the imperfections along the way.
